Arguably one of the most influential Metal bands of all times is Metallica. Continually pushing the envelope of metal they are among the godfathers of the genre. Odds are if you ask any modern metal musician for a list of influences Metallica will be in the top 10. Many people, myself included, have physically worn out every Metallica cassette over the years. For the benefit of any youngsters, cassettes were the successor to 8-Tracks and the predecessor to CD's ;) Their story started in 1981 when rhythm guitarist and singer James Hetfield hooked up with drummer Lars Ulrich through an ad in the Recycler. Shortly thereafter Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) and Ron McGovney joined the band filling the lead guitar and bass positions. The band recorded and released the demo 'No Life 'till Leather' containing "Hit The Lights", "Mechanix" later to become "The Four Horsemen", "Phantom Lord", "Jump In The Fire", Motorbreath", "Seek & Destroy" and "Metal Militia".
